Then “ Hell” breaks loose! This track has the most heat to it and as the tempo rises on the third half of it you can go nuts with the headbanging for a minute. Next track “ Hate” gives more breathing space with the bass and the vocals clear up a bit, but this only leaves more room for the solo, that is beafier this time around. “ Visions” has a slow-swinging riff-canvas by the bass and drums for throaty vocals and the guitar solo that cuts through the weight of it all like lightning. They walk in the footsteps of the bands mentioned above, but still have their own sound (that will surely develop further if they continue) with some delightful surprises along the album. After the assignment was done they kept going and now we can enjoy their debut self-titled EP. They had never played in a group before, but decided to form a one-shot-cover-band (covering old classics like Rolling Stones etc.). The band started as a school project (yes, really) in 2015, when these guys were given the assignment to do something creative. Can’t go wrong there, am I right!?Ībsynth consists of four twenty-year-olds from Belgium: Antoine (Vocals/Guitars), Gaëtan (Guitars), Louis (Drums), Arnaud (Bass). Black and purple picture with wavy bandname in white – of course Windhand and Haunted came to mind right away. As I was scrolling through new arrivals in Bandcamp this album cover caught my eye. For me, Windhand and Haunted are also right up there with those two – bands, that make you sway, eyes closed, in a ball of fuzz-extasy.

I guess we all are looking for the same rush as we got when we first heard Electric Wizard or Acid King.

Most of my music is usually inspired by a single sample, and this pack sounds like it’s full of inspiration.I have been looking some time now for a new band that would really satisfy my thirst for massive smoky sound with groovy riffs. Looking forward to reading more down the road. I just stopped by your blog and thought I would say hello. Tags: Native Instruments, Reviews 2 Comments

Absynth Twlights would be ideal for movie and game composers, though it would bring inspiration to just about any musician. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more inspiring package of pads and soundscapes for NI’s asking price of $59. The level of inspiration after trying this out is off the charts. If these 200 presets weren’t enough for you, you should know that there is up to 8 variations on a patch, and that you can morph from one to another with a slide of your mouse cursor. One of my favorites, “Spacewalker” has a thick, liquidy effects tail that really shows off the power of Kore’s engines. “Final Orbit” would be equally useful in the same situation. “Chronosphere” is an absolutely beautiful, lush pad that begs to be used in a movie score.

There are quite a few tonal pads included as well. Imaginative names like “The Changeling” and “Tetsuo” give a good idea of what these presets sound like, but I won’t ruin the surprise.

#Absynth 5 review Patch

A patch named “Church in Hell” is exactly as it sounds, though “Electric Sheep” is not cute and cuddly like you’d think. A great deal of Absynth Twilights is made up of atonal textures and noises that defy explanation. I made the unfortunate mistake of being alone in my dimly lit digs, not expecting to have a soundset scare the life out of me.

The first part of this review was conducted in my project studio late one evening. This pack contains 200 sounds constructed from Camel Audio /Biolab’s “Absynth Sounds.” Think thick pads and soaring soundscapes, and you’ll be on the right track.
